St. Lucia is a tiny eastern Caribbean island located northwest of Barbados with a mere population of a little over 174,000. It’s livelihood – tourism. Major attractions include its incredible beaches, a drive-in volcano, Sulphur Springs (in Soufrière), the Botanical Gardens, and the Majestic twin Peaks “The Pitons”(a world heritage site). Many tourists visit Saint Lucia as part of a cruise; it also tends to be a chosen recluse for honeymooners. Most of their time tends to be spent in Castries, although Soufriere, Marigot Bay and Gros Islet are popular locations to visit.
Accommodations can be pricey as this isle is a certified hot-spot. You could easily get a room at a resort in St. Lucia for $200-$300 per night or you could unwind in an entire picturesque villa for around $220 per night: Villa Chloesa, specifically.
Villa Chloesa is a beautifully furnished 3 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom luxury villa with private infinity edge swimming pool, gardens, a wide covered terrace and high ceilings throughout. The ground floor features the main living areas; an open-plan kitchen, laundry room, foyer, TV room and a dining/living room. The dramatic double-height living space maximizes the stunning views which extend beyond the outdoor terraces and pool, across a mahogany tree-filled gully and out to the Caribbean Sea.
Villa Chloesa is listed on Airbnb, a community marketplace for people to list, discover, and book unique accommodations around the world. In a few instances, “unique” could equal sheer horror story. On the other end of the spectrum is a retreat like Villa Chloesa.
Read the recent review below by a traveler from NJ:
“Villa Chloesa was amazing. We stayed from May 14 to 20, 2014. The villa was exactly as pictured. It offers an amazing view from almost every room. It was spacious, clean, and well-maintained. There was plenty of space for our party of 6. The property could easily sleep eight to ten people if you have couples in your party and some folks are not opposed to sharing a bed or sleeping on couches. It would also be great to host a pool party/BBQ. The deck was huge with plenty of seating, grill, outdoor shower and nearby powder room.
Property representatives were very nice and professional. Janine, a representative from the rental agency, handled pre-trip details, like our change of dates and arrangements for our complimentary transport to and from the airport. The property owner Shaun was on the ground and took care of us while we were in St. Lucia. He actually owns and operates a car rental company. Our rental vehicle, which you will need because the property is located away from town on a steep hill, was waiting for us when we arrived there. Although private, the property was within driving distance of several grocery stores, souvenir shops, quick service and fine dining restaurants (highly recommended: Big Chef Steakhouse, try their St. Lucian Red Curry Shrimp and get a side of fried plantains), and the beach.
Ultimately, we also hired a driver for our own private excursion through Shaun. Our driver Elijah took us to the Sulphur Springs and the Diamond Waterfalls. The private excursion included going off route, ferry required and all, to eat on Marigot Bay at the Marigot Beach Club & Dive Resort. He also provided detailed directions for part of our party to get to Gros Piton for an exhilarating hike (although both Elijah and Shaun laughed at us and thought we were crazy for wanting to climb it). The laundry room came in handy after the Sulphur Springs and the Gros Piton hike.
Overall, amazing property and great service can be had on Airbnb!”
If a trip to St. Lucia is on your radar, Villa Chloesa may be the optimal choice. Happy Planning!
